Demps: no guarantee that Gordon will stay

New Orleans Pelicans jpbPelicans general manager Dell Demps said there is no assurance that Eric Gordon will play for New Orleans next season. Demps left open the possibility of an offseason trade involving Gordon.

“We are always going to look at every opportunity to make the team better,” said Demps. “So, if Eric Gordon or with any other player if the situation presented itself, we would have to look at it.”

Gordon played 42 games this season. He is due to earn more than $44 million over the next three seasons.

Demps made his remarks at the club’s season ending press conference. In the final season of the Hornets, New Orleans won 27 games, the 5th worst record in the NBA.

Several of those games were lost in the fourth quarter, often with the Hornets holding a double digit lead.
